"What we call little things are merely the causes of great things; they are the beginning, the embryo, and it is the point of departure which, generally speaking, decides the whole future of an existence." Henri Frédéric Amiel
Nan Lawson likes to 'draw little things and take little pictures'. . . and this cause led her to quit her day job working for a big television company and start creating and selling her beautiful artwork. There's a great article/interview about Nan's journey on Etsy. At one point in the interview Nan attributes a lot of her success to her boyfriend, always supportive and encouraging her not to be afraid to try new things. In many ways - this is what the Mother Hen Project is about. Many of the young women who call Chicks In Crisis don't have the support or options which many of us are so lucky to have, whether it is a family, a community, a boyfriend/girlfriend/partner or even a reliable friend. They are often so overwhelmed by guilt and shame that they have lost sight of those 'little things' which could turn their lives around and point them towards a more rewarding way of life. The Mother Hen Project is a way to start rebuilding those support networks and help women make informed choices and/or find the means to be able to take control of their lives. Thank you Nan for donating 'Eleanor of the Sea' to the auction. It has also been very inspiring to read your story.
