Robert Kondo grew up in Hacienda Heights, California. He is an alumnus of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he studied illustration and design with Norm Schureman. Robert has worked at Oblique Strategies, Angel Studios and Pixar Animation Studios where his credits include Sets Art Director for Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, and Monsters University.
Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi made their directorial debut with The Dam Keeper
premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and is being
screened and celebrated in Film Festivals around the globe. The animated short
is a blend of traditional hand-drawn animation and digital painting
techniques which brings Kondo and Tsutsumi's celebrated painting style
to life. In 2014, Kondo & Tsutsumi left Pixar to launch a new venture called
Robert supported The Mother Hen Project in 2010 and has once again
created and donated a beautiful and highly original piece which will be included in this years auction on November 8.
